When I went to secondary school, many years ago, we used to play in rounders tournaments at different schools every summer. Of course the rounders ball was a lot harder than a tennis ball and if you got hit, by an enthusiastic deep fielder, it felt like a stone. I have great memories of playing rounders. In the sixties, our school was not loaded with money. We travelled everywhere in a single decker Southdown company bus. It looked brilliant parked up amongst all those posh coaches at tournaments. We didn't have a matching sports uniform between us. But, just like St Trinians, we gave them the "look" and walked away with a few cups. Great Days.
I bought this set for reasons of nostalga, and my grandchildren. But. we have since used it for a staff rounders match at the nursing home where i work. Two teams, a huge back lawn, and lots of side line support from our fan club, the residents. A great afternoon enjoyed by all.
