Feltcraft Cushion Owl

A good kit, although I would disagree with the 6+ age range shown on the front of the packaging, unless the child already has experience of sewing, and the types of stitches used on this cushion . I found the instructions on the types of stitch to be too basic (especially for blanket stitch) to learn from the small diagrams in the kit, and had to resort to looking up tutorials on the internet to complete it! It does make a very nice little cushion though, and looks very professional when finished.

Very sweet and good fun to make but def. not ideal for an utter beginner, not if they're going off the included instructions alone - the illustrations for the stitches are not clear, it doesn't talk about how to secure the start and end stitches and I did have to double-check some stitches online to make sure I was remembering them correctly, as I was partly using it to get back into the swing of things as well as checking suitability for a niece. There were also one or two moments where I wasn't sure that the quite thick needle would fit through the button holes. But, the finished object is lovely - the felt is good quality and the stuffing is fantastic.

Lovely - my nine year old disappeared into her room and came out with this gorgeous cushion two hours later! She had no trouble following the instructions. A lovely gift for this age group.
