Easter Facts: The Easter season lasts for fifty days. However, many people only recognise the period from Good Friday, the day on which Jesus Christ was crucified, to Easter Sunday, the day of his resurrection.
Unlike many other Christian celebrations, Easter never falls on a specific date. The season of Easter is determined by the cycle of the moon and begins on the first Sunday after the Paschal full moon.
The Easter that many children enjoy, with the Bunny and the chocolate eggs finds it's roots in German literature from the early 1600s. It is there that the myth of a rabbit carrying a basket full of coloured eggs for children that have been well behaved, is first mentioned.
